Looks to me like you have better sources than me on the subject, though I'd echo the "try fixed" comment.

You want to work out what you are going to cycle on, as icy dirt paths are different than snowy paths.

Another possibility is to buy a second-hand Raleigh 20, or Moulton - the lower centre of gravity should help (as suggested on
