You aren't paying the cop to be a nice guy either. You're just paying
him to protect you. Then again, mileage on that front varies as well.

see, the difference is that i'm *paying* the cop to protect me against
jerks like that driver. i don't like the way the driver behaved, but at
least i'm not paying him to be a nice guy.
