If CM was about getting people to ride, it would be different. It is about
whatever the organizer wants it to be, but alas, there is no organizer. Get
it?
What if an organizer who is deeply frustrated by the lousy T service wanted
to form a protest on a single train of the B line. Well, they could.
Everyone else who happened to be riding that particular train at that time
would sort of be involved. Maybe if the organizer was good, then everyone
would be involved. The result may or may not be more ridership, but I am
guessing no result.
In the case of the T, it is the state reps who screwed the riders, so unless
the state reps are on that particular train they won't really experience the
protest. Again, frustration.
Ian, you may feel that it is inappropriate to politicize CM. That is fine
to feel that way, but you can't 'undo' potential organizing on this list and
expect a result. I guess you could show up and try to convince people to
not protest and work like a political de-organizer. I think it would be
easier to just sit back and watch it not happen.
The choice to ride for some is a political one. Many other reasons are out
there however. The choice to NOT ride isn't apolitical either and many
choose to stay home because they don't feel militant or antagonistic.
CM is a time and place, if there is a message to be shared, then share it !
